Thiruvananthapuram: The All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has urged the Centre to consider Kerala as a special case and change the norms for identification of people below poverty line. In a statement here on Saturday, the pro-CPI trade union’s State general secretary Kanam Rajendran said the norms had made more than half the number of existing families in the BPL category ineligible for benefits. The AITUC would stage dharnas in all Assembly constituencies on October 31, Mr. Rajendran said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
