KOCHI: Ernakulam’s Amal Rajesh (Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikakkara) and Anandalakshmy (Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyalaya, Thiruvankulam) won the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the State under-7 chess championship at Paravur. The top two finishers in both sections will represent Kerala in the under-7 National championship which will be held in Nagpur in November. In the open schools tournament held simultaneously, Gautham Manoj (LP), Antony Devassy (UP), K. V. Vignesh (HS) emerged champions. V. D. Satheesan, MLA, and N. A. Ali, Paravur Municipal Chairman, gave away the prizes. Final placings: Boys: 1. Amal Rajesh (Ekm, 4 pts from 5 rounds), 2. Aniruth Hareendranath (Ekm, 4), 3. K.V. Sreerag (Tsr, 4), 4. Antony Joseph (Ekm, 4). Girls: 1. Ananda Lakshmi (Ekm, 4 pts from 4 rounds), 2. K. Pooja (Kzd, 3), 3. Lakshmi Akshara Raj (2), 4. P.
