Tamil Nadu triumphs

VICTORIOUS BUNCH: The Tamil Nadu team, winner of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy South Zone under-22 tournament at Bangalore on Tuesday.

Bangalore: Tamil Nadu emerged champion in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy South Zone under-22 tournament that concluded here on Tuesday. Tamil Nadu topped with 22 points while Karnataka (16) finished runner-up.

In the concluding round of matches, the two teams played out a draw at the Chinnaswamy Stadium with K.H. Gopinath’s unbeaten 104 (155b, 14x4) helping Tamil Nadu score 321 for five in reply to Karnataka’s 532 for nine declared that was built upon K.B. Pawan’s 167 (386b, 15x4, 1x6) and K.C. Avinash’s 144 (273b, 15x4, 2x6).

Karnataka 532 for nine decl. in 174.2 overs (K.B. Pawan 167, K.C. Avinash 144) drew with Tamil Nadu 321 for five in 116 overs (K.H. Gopinath 104 n.o., V. Maaruthi Raghav 53, K. Sriram 40 n.o.).

Goa 133 in 47.3 overs and 120 in 47.1 overs (Rohit Asnodkar 46, M.E. Sanuth seven for 43) bt Kerala 101 in 47 overs (Vidhyadhar Kamath four for 20) and 124 in 49.2 overs (Badal Singh four for 41).

Andhra 329 in 139.4 overs (A.G. Pradeep 194, Lalit Mohan four for 78) drew with Hyderabad 101 in 35.3 overs (Dinesh Kumar four for 36) and 115 for one in 49 overs (Akshat Reddy 49 n.o., Aaron Pal 42 n.o.).
