Land acquired

After inspecting the site with local MLA S.K. Vedaratnam, Project Officer, DRDA, K. Arunmani, and others a few days ago, the Collector said that nine acres of land had been acquired for the Samathuvapuram, to host 100 houses for people of all creeds and castes.

Periyar statue

Seven metre wide roads would be built in the Samathuvapuram, and a water tank of 30,000-litre capacity would be built, he said. A statue of Periyar would be installed at the gate and a bridge would be built over the Mullaiyar near the area. Work on the Samathuvapuram would start soon, Mr. Jayaraman said.
