NEW DELHI: Paddy procurement in the current marketing season has picked up after a slow start and has crossed last year’s level. According to the Ministry of Food, as many as 10.67 million tonnes of paddy have been procured by government agencies so far compared to 9.89 million tonnes this time last season. Of this, Punjab has contributed 8.86 million tonnes, Haryana 1.57 million tonnes and Tamil Nadu 1.54 million tonnes.
