Party announces names of 116 candidates for Dec. 4 polls


Many kin of Congress leaders find place

18 legislators re-nominated


NEW DELHI: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot (Sardarpura) and State party chief C.P. Joshi (Nathdwara) are among the 18 legislators re-nominated by the Congress to contest the December 4 Assembly elections.

Their names are among the list of 116 candidates the party announced here on Wednesday. It includes Sanjay Pahadia son of former Chief Minister Jagannath Pahadia. He would be contesting from Weir-reserved constituency while Brijendra Singh Ola, son of Union Minister Sis Ram Ola, is fielded from Jhunjhunu. Brij Kishore Sharma (Hawa Mahal) in Jaipur city is the son of Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma.

Senior party leader Paras Ram Maderna’s son, Mahipal Maderna will be re-contesting from Osian while Mrigrendra Singh Bhati, son of another prominent leader Narendra Singh Bhati is to be fielded from Lohawat. Richpal Mirdha, renominated to contest from Degana, is related to another senior party leader Nathuram Mirdha.

Among other relatives, the party has given ticket to Rita Kumar (Mandawa). She is related to former Congress Legislature Party leader Ram Narayan Chaudhary.

The party has decided to field Pratap Singh Khachriawas from Civil Lines in the capital city. He is related to former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and lost the 2004 Lok Sabha polls on a party ticket.

Former Pradesh Congress chief, B.D. Kalla will contest from Bikaner West while among the sitting legislators whose name figure in the list includes Aimamuddin Ahmed Khan from Tijara, Nand Lal Poonia (Sadulpur), Vinod Kumar (Hanumangarh),Naraian Singh (Danta Ramgarh)Pradhuman Singh (Rajakhera), D.P. Agarwal (Gangapur).
