Lawrence School enters final

Udhagamandalam: Lawrence School, Lovedale, defeated Good Shepherd International School by 118 runs and entered the final of the NDCA under-19 inter-school cricket tournament for the F.K. Irani Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds here on Wednesday.

The scores: U-19: Semifinals: Lawrence 288 for eight in 40 overs (Ashutosh 67, Abdeen 46 not out) bt Good Shepherd IS 170 for seven in 40 overs (Raj Patel 45 not out, Dhruv Dave 49).

U-16: Hebron School 166 in 32 overs (Nishant Karvinkop 49) bt SJC (Coonoor) 130.

Inter-school cricket

The Coimbatore District Cricket Association (CDCA) will conduct inter-school cricket tournaments for the under-13 (Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy), under-14 (N. Giridhari Prasad Trophy), under-16 (TSS & Co. Trophy) and non age group (Saravana Jewellers Trophy) at various venues from November to December.

Entries can be sent to the CDCA office, c/o. Sri Jaganathan Ginning & Oil Mills, 1-Avarampalayam Road, New Sidhapudur, Coimbatore-641 044 (Ph: 2212405) on or before November 5.

Junior chess

The third junior chess tournament for students, organised by the Global Chess Academy, will be held at the Perks Matriculation School premises on November 2. Entries close on November 2. For details, contact N. Vigneshwaran at 98416 66469.
