Former Kenyan minister gets bail

New Delhi: A former Kenyan minister, who was arrested along with his girlfriend at the International Airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle in a large amount of US currency, has been granted bail.

Raphael Wanjala, 44, former Kenyan Assistant Minister of Water Resource, was arrested by Customs department on October 8 along with his “girlfriend”, 24-year-old Joyce Akinyi, after the duo walked through the Green Channel at the airport here with USD 150,000 (approx Rs.74 lakh) which he allegedly failed to declare.
