Good response to The Hindu Young World Quiz contest

KOZHIKODE: The response, from school students, to the Kozhikode edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz to be held at Tagore Centenary Hall here on November 3 has been enthusiastic.

Schoolchildren, their parents and school authorities have been ringing up the office of The Hindu to enquire about the quiz.

The annual event, which attracts young talents from across the country, will be held in 13 centres. The all-India final will be held at Visakhapatnam on November 13.

The competition is open to students from Class VI to IX. Any two students from the same school can form a team and each school can send a maximum of three teams, using the entry cards sent to them. Schools from the districts of Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur can participate in the Kozhikode edition of the quiz.

There will be a written preliminary round for each centre to select six teams for the regional finals (on stage) the same day.

A lot of prizes await the winners at every stage.

The first prize winning team in the regional finals will get a cash prize of Rs.8,000, the second prize winner will get Rs.6,000 and the third prize winner, Rs.4,000. The first prize winning team in the all-India final will get a purse of Rs.16,000, second prize, Rs.12,000 and third prize, Rs.8,000.

In addition to these cash prizes, there are a large number of other prizes in cash and kind for the participants and audience.

The title sponsor for this year’s quiz is Extramarks.com.

The associate sponsors are DC Books Mango, Vizag Steel Plant, Pepsico Cheetos and Kissan Amaze Brainfood. The national sponsors are State Bank of Travancore, Firefox Bikes, Lotte Caramilk, Reynolds, Penguin Books, Cycle Brand Agarbathie and Encyclopaedia Britannica. The regional sponsors are Sadhbhavana World School, Kozhikode, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Limited, Club Mahindra Holidays and CDC Cashews.

The official drink sponsor is Dabur Real Fruit Juice. The event is managed by Quizwalahs.
