Revenue offices to be shifted to office in Vanchiyoor

Thiruvananthapuram: The District Collector will hoist the national flag at the new Collectorate building at Kudappanakunnu Civil Station at 6 a.m. on Saturday. The shifting of Collectorate offices from the existing building at Vanchiyoor will be completed by Friday.

All the sections coming under the Collectorate including Revenue Recovery, Land Acquisition, Accounts, Finance, Inspection, Suit, and Records have been relocated to the Civil Station. The Collector’s office will be the last to be shifted on Friday.

Request for buses

District Collector Sanjay Kaul said that he had written to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) managing director requesting more services to the Civil Station from Peroorkada. He added that a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority would be convened in two weeks to discuss issue of temporary permits for private services up to the Civil Station.

E-connectivity

“We have also requested the government to install the DC Suite facility for internet and intranet connectivity in the building as soon as possible,” Mr. Kaul said.

Other than the Collectorate offices, offices of the District Supply Officer and District Planning Officer have also been shifted to the Civil Station. However, the list of offices to occupy the remaining sections has not yet been finalised.

Meanwhile, Revenue offices functioning in rented buildings in different parts of the city have started moving in to the old Collectorate building at Vanchiyoor. These include the Revenue Divisional Office (RDO), Land Acquisition (LA) Additional unit and LA General unit.

The Federation of Resident’s Association Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has demanded additional bus services to the Kudappanakunnu Civil Station from various parts of the district including East Fort, Vikas Bhavan, Peroorkada, Attingal, Varkala, Kilimanur and Nedumangadu.

FRAT has also demanded the immediate repairing and resurfacing of roads to the Civil Station complex.
