CHENNAI: The number of voters in Chennai is estimated at 26,63,955. There are 13,34,297 men and 13,29,658 women. At the time of the publication of draft rolls of voters in July, the total number of voters was 28,10,886, according to a press release issued by Chennai Corporation. After the publication of the draft rolls, prepared in the wake of delimitation of constituencies, a special summary revision of the rolls was carried out. One hundred per cent rectification of the rolls was conducted in 16 Assembly constituencies of the city from July 26 to August 28. Of about 2.9 lakh applications received for addition, 2,83,110 applications were received after the field verification. Besides, 4,29,241 voters’ names were deleted on account of death or migration. The final voters’ rolls will be on display at designated polling booths and Chennai Corporation’s zonal offices from Friday for a week, a press release from the Corporation said.
