Another Cessna for aviation academy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government-owned Rajiv Gandhi Academy for Aviation Technology here has received a new generation Cessna 172 R with glass cockpit free of cost from the Aero Club of India. With the arrival of the Cessna 172 R aircraft, the number of trainee aircraft in the academy has gone up to three. The academy has already purchased two four-seater Cessna aircraft.

The new aircraft was received from the Aero Club in Mumbai by a team led by Chief Flying Instructor Capt T. J. Joseph, Capt. S. Abilash and Chief Engineer Ratheesh Babu. With this, the academy will be able to impart training to pilot aspirants in the latest aircraft. Already, the government has appointed the former Chairman and Managing Director of National Aviation Company Limited V. Thulasidas as the Executive Director of the academy. The first batch of 27 students are undergoing training at the academy.
