MADURAI: An army recruitment rally to enrol candidates as soldiers in various categories will be held at Namakkal from November 11 to 17.

According to a release from Army Recruiting Office, Coimbatore, the enrolment will be in the categories of soldier – tradesman, general duty, nursing assistant, technical, and clerk/store keeper technical.

Candidates from the districts of the Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Coimabtore, Theni, Dindigul, Namakkal, Erode, Madurai and Salem are eligible to attend. They will have to report at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School (South), Namakkal Town, at 5.30 a.m. on all days.

Those who have passed Plus II with physics, chemistry, mathematics and English are eligible for the Soldier (Technical) post, while those who studied physics, chemistry, biology and English are eligible for the Nursing Assistant post. Those born between November 18, 1985 and May 11, 1991 can attend the rally. Candidates who are below the age of 18 years should bring a consent certificate along with other documents from their parents. Certificate verification and physical fitness test will be conducted from November 11 to 13.

The selection procedure will involve physical fitness, medical fitness and a common entrance examination. Candidates from various districts will be grouped together under common categories for selection process.

Selection for each category will be done for two days. Candidates will have to carry with them relevant documents. For details, contact the Army Recruiting Office, Coimbatore.
