Indo-U.S. relations poised to grow: Kaplan

After U.S. elects
a new President
on November 4

CHENNAI: The Indo-U.S. bilateral relations will gain momentum when the country elects a new President on November 4, the Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, Frederick Kaplan, said here on Friday.

“Be it the Democrats or the Republicans, the bilateral partnership has to be accelerated further for the benefit of both the Americans and the Indians,” Mr. Kaplan said while speaking on “U.S. elections and its global impact with a focus on India.”

The meeting was jointly organised by the U.S. Consulate, Chennai, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Chennai; and Exchange Visitors Alumni Association of South India.

Mr. Kaplan said there was greater scope for closer cooperation between India and the U.S., both key players in the fight against terrorism.

Former Chief Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, spoke on the similarities and dissimilarities between the U.S. electoral process and the Indian electoral process.
