Srinivas, Arvind crack centuries

HYDERABAD: Centuries by G. Srinivas (128) and Arvind Shetty (117) helped Syndicate Bank record a convincing, 278-run win over Sai Sathya CC in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here.

The scores:

Boost Cup (under-16): Little Flower JC 134 lost to Gowtham Model School 134 for two (Mallikarjun 74 not out).

All Saint’s HS 171 for six (Laxman 49 not out) lost to St. John’s Church JC 173 for two (S. Nikhilesh 64, Rahul 50 not out).

A-Division (two-day) league: Syndicate Bank 373 (G. Srinivas 128, Arvind Shetty 117) bt Sai Satya 95 (M. A. Javeed four for 27).

Crown 386 (Pavan Kumar 100, Chandrakanth 43, Md. Sultan five for 94) bt ) P & T Colony 127 (Md. Mansoor 50, Paramjit 40, Md. Iqbal four for 44, Chandrakanth six for 32).

Raju CC 180 (Anurag 72, Vincent Vinay Kumar seven for 38) lost to SBI 184 for four (Pankaj 69 not out).

B-Division one-day league: Mahmood 180 for six (Joseph 56) bt Imperial 173 for eight ( Riaz 58 not out, Madhu four for 42).

Sutton XI 151 (G. Manohar Kumar 55, Phanender six for 20) lost to Mahmood 153 for seven (Prannoy 51, Siddhanth five for 40).

C-Division: 242 (Raziuddin Rizwan 65, Mazheruddin 67, Rithwik seven for 55) bt Masters XI 150 (Amir seven for 79).

Srinath in final

U. Srinath defeated Sridhar 9-5 in the men’s singles semifinals of the Transworld Sports Foundation masters tennis tournament (35 years & above) at Indira Park here.

The results:

Semifinals: Singles: C. S. Reddy bt Murali 9-7; U. Srinath bt Sridhar 9-5. Doubles: Sridhar & Murali bt Rajender Nimje & V. Ramana 9-8 (7-3); Anil Kapoor & U Srinath bt Manish & Raghu 9-3.

AOC Centre wins

AOC Centre won the final of the Susai Sr memorial football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, with a 3-0 win over State Bank of Hyderabad in shoot-out at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

The teams were locked goalless at full-time.

In the shoot-out, Arvind, Premjit Singh and S. C. Mondal were on target for the winners while Akbar, Rock Xavier and Prakash failed for the Bankmen.

Special prizes were given to Khiser Ali of SBH (top-scorer) and Sashank of Shastri Club (best player). J. Pratap, vice-president of Cantonment Board, gave away the prizes.

HCA bags sponsorship

Deccan Chronicle will sponsor Hyderabad Cricket Association teams which will take part in the all the BCCI tournaments including the Ranji Trophy, under-22, under-19, under-16 and under-16 inter-school matches, women’s junior under-19 and the senior tournaments for the 2008-09 season, according to D.S. Chalapathi, joint-secretary of HCA. HCA thanked the group for its patronage and hoped it would go a long way in promoting the game including the districts.
