Adeel shines for Bishop Cotton

KOCHI: Adeel Anees amassed 38 points as Bangalore’s Bishop Cotton School defeated Kodai International 56-33 and entered the boys’ final of the Choice Cup South Zone inter-school basketball tournament at The Choice School (Tripunithura) on Saturday night.

Bishop Cotton will meet Kottayam’s Girideepam Bethany in Sunday’s final.

In the girls’ section, Chennai’s Chettinad Vidyashram will clash with Bangalore’s Carmal Convent for the title.

Boys: Girideepam Bethany Central School (Kottayam) 53 (Lijin 29) bt Hindu Senior Secondary School (Chennai) 43 (Jitusa Fernando 19); Bishop Cotton (Bangalore) 56 (Adeel Anees 38) bt Kodai International (Kodaikanal) 33 (Sherran Wallang 12).

Girls: Chettinad Vidyashram (Chennai) 47 (K. Sruthi 20) bt Bishop Cotton (Bangalore) 14; Carmel Convent (Bangalore) 28 bt Navy Children School (Kochi) 14.

Arjun hits century

Kerala under-19 captain N.K. Arjun hit a fine century and left-arm spinner V.S. Shiju took four wickets as Globstar Telecom (Aluva) crushed Sensan Ranji CC (Thiruvananthapuram) by 172 runs in a first phase match of the Maruti Homes 58th Pooja all-India cricket tournament at the Tripunithura Palace Oval on Saturday.
