VIJAYAWADA: To publicise its policies and electoral assurances to the public, the Lok Satta Party on Sunday launched a mobile poster exhibition at Benz Circle. The exhibition will travel for 19 days, covering one division a day, in all the 19 divisions of the Vijayawada East Assembly constituency. As many as 30 vinyl posters were on display at Anjaneya Swamy temple, where the party activists were explaining the party’s views on various issues, including, education, health and employment. The posters depicted responsibilities of the government – such as providing free medical care to all the poor people and taking care of the education of their wards. The party assured the public that it would make the concept of local self government a reality by distributing funds and powers to the local bodies. To strengthen the rural economy, the party, when voted to power, would distribute sufficient funds to the panchayats and develop basic infrastructure in every village. To ensure equality between the rural and urban students, the party proposed 10 per cent grace marks to the students who studied in rural school and hailed from poor financial background. Super-speciality hospitals in all district headquarters, qualitative power supply to the farm sector, setting up of agriculture-based industries, etc were the other policies of the party. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
