Harmony run on November 9

NEW DELHI: A large number of senior citizens will for the fourth consecutive year participate in the Harmony Senior Citizens Run being organised by Harmony for Silvers Foundation in the Capital on November 9.

The 4-km run that will be flagged off at 7-10 am would witness many prominent celebrities cheering and running along side senior citizens.

Celebrities who have already confirmed their presence at the Harmony marquee include Sushil Kumar, bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and Rajiv Tomar, Asian gold medallist and Beijing Olympic Games participant.

The venue for the event is the Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board Ground opposite Nehru Park.

The senior citizens run, now a prestigious and integral part of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, is not about crossing the finishing line or winning prizes.

“It’s about living life to the fullest. We value life through action, not years,” says Tina Anil Ambani of Harmony for Silvers Foundation.

According to a Harmony spokesperson, all senior citizens have for the first time paid a token registration charge to ensure that the event is not just fun but competitive too.

“Around 700 senior citizens (above 60 years) will participate in the run. All of them would be provided transport, Harmony T-shirts, a goody-bag and refreshments,” said the spokesperson, adding that paramedical teams will be stationed at the marquee -- specially erected for the convenience of all the participants -- as well as positioned all along the route in case of any contingency.

Stating that arrangements have also been made for the entertainment of the participants, the spokesperson said that only those senior citizens who have registered for the run would be allowed access to the marquee.
