Airport expansion

We are very happy that the long-pending work of the expansion of Gannavaram airport is taking off now. The issue here is that the airport is not only passenger oriented, but it can be developed as an outlet for cargo and courier service, in view of the potential for sending fresh farm and poultry produce from here to other parts of the country. Locally available mangoes, fresh fish, chicken and eggs have a lot of demand in places like Chennai and Mumbai. As of now, we are able to send this produce to other places only trough roadways and railways, due to which the produce loses its freshness. Once the cargo facility is available from the local airport, local traders can expand their vistas to many parts of the country.

Road in a bad shape

The road between Poranki and Nidamanuru in the city is in a bad shape. It is causing a lot of inconvenience to people travelling on this route. Not only vehicle drivers, but pedestrians are also facing difficulties to cross the stretch. Auto-rickshaw drivers are reluctant to take people on this route due to the bad shape of the road. Immediate re-carpeting of the road is a must.

Otherwise, the condition of the road may lead to accidents.

The authorities concerned are requested to look into the issue and take steps to revive the shape of the road at the earliest.

One more post office needed

In the recent years, Ajithsingh Nagar area is developed rapidly with colonies like Prakash Nagar, Rajiv Nagar and Santhi Nagar coming up one by one. The postal department opened a post office in Ajithsingh Nagar long bank and same is serving the population of all the new colonies. As the number of houses has gone up , it has become very difficult for the postal staff to cater to the needs of the entire population. Since many people from this area are depending on the services of the postal department, the authorities concerned are requested to open one more post office here. The new post office will not only reduce the burden on the existing one, but also serve the people.

Steps sought to check accidents

Road accidents are taking place frequently at the traffic junction near Krishnalanka fire station. According to the police records, this point is one of the accident-prone areas in the city. Over one lakh people are residing in Krishnalanka area and they must cross the National Highway Number 5 at this point to go to the city. Unfortunately, there is neither a speed-breaker nor traffic signal at this point. The bus stop near the fire station is causing frequent traffic jams and road accidents here. The officials concerned are requested to find out a permanent solution to this problem.
