Shopkeepers down shutters in Kolathur

METTUR: Shopkeepers in Kolathur downed their shutters on Tuesday to express their solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils.

They wanted the Sri Lankan Government to stop the military offensive and initiate peaceful measures to resolve the ethnic conflict in the island nation.

Youth dies in Salem

The youth who set himself afire on the Nattanmai Kazhagam building premises died at the Salem Government Medical College Hospital on Monday night.

The youth Hussain (24) of Ammapet, who was missing from home for the past ten days, poured kerosene and set himself afire.

Burns

People rescued the youth and rushed him to the hospital with serious burns. He died at the hospital, police source said.
