Bid to motivate students to secure top rank in SSLC

NAMAKKAL: In a bid to motivate students of government schools to secure top ranks in the public examinations, the Namakkal district administration has introduced a scheme to provide intensive coaching.

The initiative, implemented in selected government high and higher secondary schools across the district, would enable the students to prepare well for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and higher secondary examinations.

The administration had taken up this effort as only students studying in the private schools in the district used to secure State ranks in the public examinations.

The teachers had been instructed to give specialised coaching to the students in the school hours and after school hours enabling them to prepare better for the examinations.

In the previous academic year, the student who secured first mark in SSLC examinations in the district level in the government school category was just short of five marks to the State top rank, which is bagged by a private school student, education officials pointed out. Collector U. Sagayam had already conducted a meeting with the teachers, heads of government schools and education officials and promised them to extend necessary assistance to provide intensive coaching.

On Monday, the Collector handed over a sum of Rs. 2,000 each to the heads of R. Puthupalayam and Senthamangalam Government schools in order to meet petty expenses.
