CUTTACK: A 17-year-old college girl received stab injuries when she and her 70-year-old grandmother foiled a robbery attempt made by two persons at their Badambadi area residence on Monday night. According to city police, the persons knocked at the door of Choudhury Swarup Mishra in Glass Palace Lane around 8 p.m. Mishra and his wife were not at home at that time and their daughter Mishika who was in the house with her grandmother answered the doorbell. The two asked the girl for the house rent but when they were told to come later as no one was at home, one of them asked the girl to give them her mother’s phone number. “As she was about to write down the number, one of them brandishing a knife asked Mishika to handover what she had. Seeing the man with knife she alerted her grandmother who rushed from the adjacent room shouting aloud. Fearing that they would be caught, the duo escaped from the place but not before stabbing the girl,” police said. The girl was later taken to hospital. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
