Viswappan Memorial gold medal for Bobit, Smija

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The P.S. Viswappan Memorial gold medals for the best players in the recently concluded State senior basketball championships were given to Bobit Mathew and P. Smija.

The Vincent Gomez Memorial Trophy for the best defensive players went to Vijobi Vakkachan and Anju Mohan. The Parameshwaran Pillai Memorial award for the best promising players were given to Anoop Devasia and K.R. Neethu. The award carries a prize money of Rs. 2500.

Dimal, Vijobi felicitated

The Kottayam District Basketball Association also honoured the National senior women’s coach Dimal C. Mathew and Vijobi, who had represented India in the FIBA Senior Asian Stancovic Cup in Kuwait earlier this year.

The senior selection committee also announced the list of players selected to attend the coaching camp, the dates of which will be announced later.

The selected players:

Men: Subash J. Shenoy, V. Vivek, T.S. Abhilash, R. Manoj, Monish Wilson, Bobit Mathew, Vijobi Vakkachan, Ullas Jose, Rahul Krishna, V.C. Ajith, Anoop Devasia, K.R. Nikhil, C.V. Ratheesh, K. Mahesh, Eudric Perera and R.S. Raseen.

Women: Stephy Nixon, R.K. Smruthy, P. Smija, V.K. Priyanka, Veena Ravi Mathew, K.R. Neethu, K. Dhanya, Sini Jacob, Sonia Joseph, Litty Mathew, Seena Joseph, Anju Mohan, Anu Mathew, Lizy Mathew, M.D. Lisha and K.K. Sushamma.
