Water released in 18th Channel at Gudalur

THENI: A 100-year-old dream of farmers in rain-fed areas of Cumbum Valley in Theni district becomes a reality, thanks to a trial release of 100 cusecs of water in the 39-km-long 18th Channel at Gudalur around 12.05 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmers in 75 villages between Gudalur and Thevaram in the district need not worry any more about getting adequate water for irrigation in the future. A total of 45 tanks will be recharged and groundwater table improved.
