NTP paints ‘TG’ on number plates

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Members of the Nava Telangana Party (NTP) led by convenor E. Peddi Reddy, stopped for an hour, vehicles, including APSRTC buses, near the Jubilee Bus Station and painted new registration numbers by replacing ‘AP’ with ‘TG’, to denote separate Telangana.

They stopped buses, cars and other vehicles as part of their novel drive, two days after NTP president T. Devender Goud declared ‘self-rule’ in separate Telangana State.

An hour later, Mr. Peddi Reddy, accompanied by spokesman Narra Ravi Kumar and the party’s city unit president, T. Pratap Reddy, marched to Mirchowk police station to protest the arrest of Rajesh Naik, a youth who was on a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ march, against acquisition of lands of 360 farmers for the SEZ at Polepalli.

Mr. Naik was on a ‘padayatra’ and wanted to go to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s residence to register his protest. However, police arrested him around noon, near Khairatabad itself.
