Maytas clarifies on metro rail extension

HYDERABAD: Maytas Infra has clarified that the land for depot on metro rail project’s Line three – Shilparamam – Habsiguda, was extended by five km to Nagole by the government since land was not available at Osmania University.

An official spokesman of the firm which formed a consortium with Navbahart, Ital Thai and IL&FS to bag the prestigious work contract under the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) mode said in a press release that the project report for this extension was given to all the five consortia in July 2008.

With reference to some media reports indicating that the metro rail lines were altered or extended to areas where the consortium has extensive private land holdings, he asserted that the consortium does not hold lands in the vicinity of Nagole. “Incidentally, effect on land prices of the metro project is independent/irrespective of who owns or operates the metro project,” he added.
