Man drowns in well Crime notes

BANGALORE: A 24-year-old youth, Varghese, drowned while swimming in a well near Jambusavari Dinne on Tuesday evening, police said.

Killed

Ramakrishnaiah (40), an employee of Somanatha bar and restaurant in Chikkajala, was killed when a car hit him in Chikkajala around 10 p.m. on Monday.

Recovered

The Magadi Road police raided two pawn shops in Tavarekere and recovered jewellery worth Rs. 2.5 lakh allegedly stolen by a habitual offender, Manjunatha alias Manja (21). “We have arrested him and also warned the pawn brokers against accepting stolen ornaments,” police said.

In another case, the Varthur police arrested Muruga Krishnappa (46) and recovered Rs. 7 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments from him. “Along with four others, he had stolen the valuables from the house of Raveendra Babu in Gunjur village near Varthur in February. We had arrested the others but he was absconding,” the police said.
