Some elected members of the Academic Council of Delhi University belonging to the Democratic Teachers’ Front have drawn the attention of Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental to the need for proper implementation of the University Ordinance XV-D that deals with cases of sexual harassment. A letter written by Council members Rajib Ray, Abha Dev Habib, Bhupinder Chaudhury, Sanjeev Kumar and Najma Rehmani to Prof. Pental last month underscores “the need to address several infirmities” in implementation of Ordinance XV-D. “We would like to bring to your notice that there are complaints of sexual harassment pending where either the enquiry has not been completed in a time-bound manner or, even after completion of the enquiry, the reports have not been placed before the Executive Council,” they wrote. They have also underlined the need for a mechanism that functions autonomously from the university administration. “We are concerned over the V-C’s failure to place the reports of various enquiry committees at the Executive Council’s meeting held this past week,” said DTF secretary Rajeev Kumar Kunwar.

The gallery also has two studios where professional artists can come and interact with the students. “The M. F. Husain Art Gallery is next to the Castro Cafe and the Ansari Auditorium. We are trying to develop that space as the Castro Garden Complex,” said a Jamia spokesperson.
