Hakeem, Ilavavazhagi win

HYDERABAD: M.A. Hakeem of Hyderabad defeated former national champion Radhakrishnan of Tamil Nadu 20-25, 25-22, 25-21 in the men’s singles final of the South Zone carom championship in Kakinada on Wednesday.

In the women’s final, reigning national and world champion Ilavavazhagi had no difficulty in disposing off Nagajyothi of Hyderabad 25-23, 25-0 to win the title.

In the boys final, K. Srinivas of Hyderabad emerged winner defeating Silambarasan of Tamil Nadu 11-25, 25-5, 25-24.

Meanwhile Jayasri (Tamil Nadu) made short work of A. Bhavani of Andhra at 25-17, 25-17 to emerge the girls’ champion.
