Big win for President’s XI

Bangalore: President’s XI defeated Bangalore City by 10 wickets in a KSCA inter-zonal under-16 tournament match that concluded here on Wednesday.

The scores: Bangalore City 161 in 37.5 overs and 94 in 30.5 overs lost to President’s XI 196 in 60.3 overs (Ashishdhar 62, Prithvi Singh 55) and 63 for no loss in 11.4 overs.

Mysore 237 in 69.1 overs and 149 for four decl. in 26 overs (M. Vishal 53) drew with Tumkur 152 in 52.4 overs (Shreyas 44, Suchith four for 40) and 109 for two in 24 overs.

At Shimoga: Shimoga 326 for nine in 90 overs and 68 for two in 23.4 overs (Vijay 42) drew with Mangalore 226 for nine in 90 overs (Karthik Shetty 62 n.o.).

At Bhadravati: Combined City XI 230 in 75.4 overs and 117 for five in 33 overs drew with Bangalore 230 in 77.5 overs (Mandeep Singh 74).

Hat-trick by Preetham

Preetham Chougule’s hat-trick triggered a fantastic come-from-behind 4-3 win for Belgaum District over East India HC in a State ‘C’ division hockey league encounter at the KSHA stadium here on Wednesday.

East India took control of the match after strikes by Mohan (35th) and Tareen (42nd and 44th). But the Belgaum outfit fought back and Preetham scored three-in-a-row in the 45th, 49th and 56th minutes to draw level before Shavaz Naik netted the match-winner in the 58th minute.

In other matches Rangers HC blanked Friends XI 5-0 with Samson (2), Nanda (2) and Jerrad scoring, while Young Stars (Hubli) downed Metro HC 5-2. Praveen (2), D. Ramu, Sridharan and Raghu notched up the goals for Hubli side, while Amogh Devaiah and Punith scored for the loser.

Equestrian championship

Embassy International Riding School in association with South India Equestrian Association will host the NEC Dressage Zone, FEI World Challenge Dressage, FEI World Challenge show jumping and South India equestrian championship from November 11 to 19.

FEI dressage championship will be judged by Mrs. Karin Kruger (Denmark) and Lorraine Macdonald (Canada), and the FEI international jumping competition will be judged by Prof. Nigel King (Hong Kong).

Kazi to lead

Abrar Kazi will lead Karnataka in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy under-19 limited overs tournament from November 8 to 15.

The scores: Falcon SC 201 for two in 30 overs (Roopa 101 n.o.) bt Bangalore Girls CC 70 in 28.2 overs; Shashidhar Women’s CC 39 in 20.2 overs (Vidya four for seven, Latha Mani four for 10) lost to Gokule CC 40 for no loss in 4.2 overs; Raichur President’s XI 229 for three in 28 overs (Padmini 67 n.o.) bt Mathod Women’s CC 40 in 13.3 overs (Parveen four for 10); JP Nagar SC 52 in 19.4 overs lost to KIOC 54 for no loss in 3.2 overs.
