Police constables at a workshop organised by the Forensic Science Laboratory in Mysore on Wednesday. MYSORE: Police constables from Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajnagar, Kodagu and Hassan districts are participating in a workshop on “Preserving the scene of occurrence” organised by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Bangalore, here on Wednesday. Omprakash of the Karnataka Police Academy inaugurated the workshop. Inspector-General of Police (Southern Range) J.K. Goankar, City Police Commissioner S. Parashivamurthy and Superintendent of Police Rama Subba were present. Thirteen experts from FSL are conducting the workshop for 136 constables and head constables in two batches. The Deputy Director of FSL, Mysore region, Nanjundappa, is assisting them. The workshop will end on Thursday. Six policemen from Railway Protection Force are also participating.The participants, who have brought investigation officer kits with them, learnt the importance of preserving fingerprints, blood marks and sealing the scene of crime. They were taught how to collect even minute evidence from the scene of crime with the help of the kit. Inspector of District Crime Investigation Bureau Ramdas told The Hindu that the participants would undergo theoretical and practical training.
