BJP releases list of 12 candidates

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday announced its second list of 12 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. With this, the party has announced all its candidates barring the one from Burari, on which a decision is expected in a couple of days.

Announcing the names, senior party leader and former Union Minister Ananth Kumar said the decision on the names was taken at the Central Election Committee meeting chaired by national president Rajnath Singh.

The party, he said, had decided to field Raj Singh from Nangloi, Jai Prakash from Sadar Bazar, trade leader Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk, Talat Sultana from Matia Mahal, Krishna Gahlot from Vikaspuri, Kamaljit Sehrawat from Matiala and Rajesh Sharma from Najafgarh.

Other candidates are Sunil Vaidya from Trilokpuri, former DUSU president Nakul Bhardwaj from Patparganj, Murari Singh Panwar from Laxmi Nagar, Yogendra Sharma from Mustafabad and Sita Ram Gupta from Seelampur.

The party had a tough time finalising the tickets as two senior leaders Vijay Goel and O.P. Kohli had questioned the manner of shortlisting the candidates by bypassing the Election Committee.
