Friends HC posts win

Chennai: Friends Hockey Club recorded a 3-1 win over SDAT in a first division hockey match here on Wednesday.

The results: SDAT 2 (Sudharsan, Arul Anandhu) drew with St. Paul’s RC 2 (Amurath, Kumaresan); Friends HC 3 (Pachaiyappan, Ravichandran, Yuvaraj) bt SDAT 1 (Jai Singh Cabrial).

Ezhil Raja of Rajalakshmi Engineering College claimed a hat-trick as his side romped to a five-wicket win over BSA Crescent in the Sarat Chandra Memorial staff cricket tournament here recently.

Panimalar Engineering College sent SDAT to its second straight defeat in the women’s section of the Vollys Club-Aircel State-level volleyball tournament here on Wednesday, winning 25-21, 25-22.

The results: Men: Sathyabama bt TNEB 26-24, 25-16; TNEB bt SBI 25-17, 25-21; Panimalar bt Central Excise 25-17, 25-23; Indian Bank bt SDAT 25-17, 25-11. Women: Panimalar bt SDAT 25-21, 25-22.

Krishnakumar and V. Krishnan won the weekly pairs bridge event at the T. Nagar Social Club here on Tuesday with a score of 67.42 per cent playing East-West. Bhaskar and Narayan Iyer won from North-South, scoring 64.04 per cent.
