PUDUCHERRY: Members of Community Based Organisations (CBO) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) working in the field of HIV/AIDS took part in a workshop and discussed the development of the HIV/AIDS prevention programme and ways to improve it in the Union Territory on Thursday.

The Pondicherry AIDS Control Society (PACS) conducted a workshop on HIV/AIDS mainstreaming and targeted interventions to the leaders of CBOs and NGOs.

It was aimed at explaining the aspects of National AIDS control programme-III and Targeted Interventions to the leaders of CBOs and NGOs. Members from 30 organisations participated.

“The workshop facilitated an interaction between PACS and NGOs, CBOs which are already working in the field of HIV/AIDS. We gave them the basic information on our work and how they can help us in the field,” Project Director of PACS Gilbert Fernandez said.

He said that the organisations were working closely with the general public and targeted groups. “During the course of the workshop, discussions on how the HIV/AIDS prevention programme is going on and the developments in the last few years were held. The organisations suggested ways to improve the programme. In what ways we expected them to help us was also put forth,” he added. Member of Legislative Assembly K.
