CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers’ Co-operative Society (Co-optex) registered a 24 per cent increase in sales during this Deepavali season, compared with last year. It sold goods worth Rs. 62 crore, against Rs. 50.40 crore last year. It was Rs. 2 crore more than the target set by the government. An official release said there was a 20 per cent increase in the customer turnover this year; nearly 9.52 lakh customers visited showrooms and exhibitions conducted by the society for the festival. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
