Guwahati: Ritu Raj Konwar, senior news photographer of The Hindu, has been selected for the India Press Photo Awards in the Spot News Singles Category. Mr. Konwar, who is based in Guwahati, covers happenings in the north-east.

The awards were instituted by the Ramnath Goenka Foundation of the Indian Express group to identify, promote and reward excellence in photojournalism and documentary photography.

The award will be presented on November 14 at the Express Gallery, Mumbai.

The photographs will first be displayed at an exhibition in Mumbai and later throughout the country. The award carries cash of Rs.50,000.
