They used filthy language against Reserve SI, who brought them to court

CHENNAI: Two suspects in a theft case, who tried to misbehave with an escorting police official, were booked on charges of criminal intimidation here on Thursday.

Police said D. Gopi (25) of Mogappair East and A. Mayakkan (30) of Ayanavaram were arrested in connection with a theft case and lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison. They were brought to the Ambattur court for remand extension by the Reserve Sub-Inspector Rajendran.

When some friends and relatives of the suspects tried to pass some contraband to the accused on the court premises, Mr. Rajendran objected to it.

Irked by this, the duo used filthy language on the RSI and even attempted to assault him.

A judicial magistrate who saw this incident, instructed the police official to lodge a complaint.

A fresh case was registered against the two accused who were remanded to judicial custody.
