Close call for Vidyaranyapura

BANGALORE: Vidyaranyapura HC snatched a fighting 3-2 win over Mico but the other two fixtures for the day in the State C Division hockey league at the KSHA stadium on Friday was one sided affair as Kodava Samaj and BEML (Bangalore) recorded thumping victories.

While Kodava Samaj thrashed Ideal SC 8-0 with goals from Sarvin (2), Kavin Cariappa (2), Ajay, Bopanna, Sachin and Manoj, BEML (Bangalore) won 7-0 over Bellary HC. Hatri Gobind (2), Rajan (2), Naresh, Muthappa and Diwakar were BEML’s goal scorers.

Georger H gave Vidyaranyapura a second minute lead which was neutralised by Shanawaz in the ninth minute for Mico. George Williams and Jagadish then struck to put the winners in a comfortable position even as Nanjappa I.B pulled one back late in the match for Mico.
