Congratulates Obama

BANGALORE: The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president, H.D. Deve Gowda, has congratulated Barack Obama on his election as the 44th President of the United States. In a letter addressed to Mr. Obama, Mr. Gowda said: “Please accept my humble yet heartiest congratulations on your historic election as the president of USA. I was overwhelmed by your touching address to the people of America soon after your victory. As the newly elected head of one of the most powerful and influential nations of the world, the address carried a message to the people all over the world of hope, peace, reconciliation, justice, equality and democracy.”

Mr. Gowda said: “The people of India join me in greeting you … your good self has most appropriately pointed out that we cannot have a thriving wall street while the main street suffers. We in the developing world look forward with utmost expectation your lending a human face to global economies.”
