Vishnu, Reshma emerge fastest

KOCHI: Vishnu R. Dev of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, and Reshma Sara Raji (VSSC Central School, Tvm) emerged as the fastest boy and girl in the State CBSE schools athletics championship at the Maharaja’s Stadium here on Saturday.

Vishnu won the under-19 boys 100m while Reshma broke her own under-19 girls 100m meet record while winning the gold comfortably.

The winners: Boys, under-19: 100m: Vishnu R. Dev (Chinmaya, Vaduthala) 11.5s. 400m: Hisham Abdurahiman (Peevees PS, Nilambur) 51.4s NMR, OR Jaseer Babu, Ansar ES, 52.6, 1999. 1,500m: 1. M. D. Venus (BVM, Sulthan Bathery) 4:31.3s NMR, OR P. S. Linshad, CSM CS, Edassery, 4:32.93, 2007. 5,000m: S. B. Sooraj (Sree Narayana PS, Tvm) 17:55.3s). 4x100 m relay: Ansar Eng. School, Perumpilavu (45.3s EMR). Javelin throw: Vishnu R. Dev (Chinmaya, Vaduthala) 48.70m NMR, OR Milan Paul, St. Peter’s, Kadayiruppu, 48.45m, 2004.

Under-16: 100m: 1. Athul Ramachandran (Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalayala, Kakknad) 11.8s. 400m: Nikhil Soman (Labour India, Ktm) 55.5s. 3,000m: N. R. Abhiraj (BVM, Sulthan Bathery) 10:36.7s. Long jump: C. S. Abhay Dev (Labour India, Ktm) 5.97m. High jump: Sujith Kuttan (Labour India, Kottayam) 1.82m. Javelin throw: 1. Gils Thampi (St. Peter’s, Kolencherry) 40.32m.
