3 charred to death in car collision

NEW DELHI: Three young men were charred to death when their CNG-run car collided head-on with a dumper and went up in flames at Kapashera in South-West Delhi in the early hours of Saturday. The dumper driver vanished from the spot leaving his vehicle behind.

The mishap took place around 1 a.m. on Bijwasan-Kapashera Road when the Maruti Wagon-R car coming in from Najafgarh collided with the dumper coming in from the opposite side. While the front portions of the dumper and the car were badly damaged, the car caught fire under the impact of the collision. Within minutes the entire car was engulfed in flames. Its three occupants were charred to death.

Two other men, identified as Sunny (23) and Parvinder (24), also sustained injuries as their motorcycle rammed the car. They were taken to Safdarjung Hospital where Parvinder was discharged after treatment. Sunny sustained a fracture in the leg.

The deceased were identified as Pawan, a 36-year-old resident of Mahendragarh, Jitender (38) from Rewari in Haryana, and Dev Karan (49), a resident of Rajokri in Delhi.
