Vijay Jolly rakes up transport issue

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Just days after he accused the Sheila Dikshit Government of failing to address the water woes of the Capital’s residents, the BJP candidate for election from New Delhi, Vijay Jolly, has charged the Congress with “making mockery of the public transport system and showing little concern for the common man”.

He accused the Chief Minister “of having deliberately and purposefully neglected the public transport system and reducing the same to a meagre service badly affecting the people of New Delhi constituency”.

“I would like to ask the Chief Minister if she can give out figures as to how many DTC and other related buses plied in the New Delhi areas including Sarojini Nagar and Gole Market nearly ten years ago when she took over and what is the situation today. Why have a large number of DTC buses and those private buses plying in the areas been mysteriously removed from the roads during the last few years putting the people of New Delhi constituency to hardship and harassment?” he asked. Mr. Jolly, who is challenging Ms. Dikshit in the New Delhi constituency, said the Chief Minister’s negative response to his questions was an “acceptance of her failures”.
