NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Janakpuri, Jagdish Mukhi, took out a “padyatra” from Mahavir Enclave Part II here on Saturday to start his campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections.

Accompanied by Municipal Councillors Renu Sharma, Mandal Pradhan and O. P. Rana besides party office-bearers and workers, Prof. Mukhi interacted with people from the area, who welcomed him with slogans like “Pahle Janakpuri ki sawari, phir aai Uttam Nagar ki baari, ab hai Sitapuri aur Mahavir Enclave ki taiyari….” (After the triumphant ride in Janakpuri, it was the turn of Uttam Nagar. Now preparations are on for Sitapuri and Mahavir Enclave….).

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mukhi assured the local residents that he would develop Mahavir Enclave on the same pattern as he had in Janakpuri and Uttam Nagar.

“I want to assure the people of the area that I will resolve the drinking water problems of Mahavir Enclave Part II and Part III within a month of the BJP forming the government. This problem has been persisting due to neglect over the past ten years of Congress rule in Delhi,” he charged.

In the evening, Prof. Mukhi took out another march on foot from east Uttam Nagar.
