Touching the lives of traffic policemen
Generous act: Actor Jennifer Kotwal distributing gloves donated by the Bharatinagar Residents’ Forum, to traffic police constables at Frazer Town Police Station in Bangalore on Sunday.
BANGALORE: It was a way of acknowledging the hard work of the men in uniform. On Sunday, film actor Jennifer Kotwal turned up to distribute gloves to traffic police constables attached to Frazer Town Traffic Police Station.
In an effort to improve the rapport between the people and the police, the Bharathinagar Residents’ Forum donated the gloves to the constables.
In all, 160 pairs of gloves were distributed on Sunday with each constable getting two each.
“We are expressing our gratitude in appreciation of the work taken up by the traffic police through this gesture,” Bharatinagar Residents’ Forum president N.S. Ravi told The Hindu. The forum also has other plans to strengthen the relationship between the police and people such as by organising cricket and football matches in future.
Police Circle Inspector C.R. Geeta said she was very happy that the hard work of the department was being recognised. She said: “We have been associated with the Bharatinagar Residents’ Forum for the last eight to nine years, and we are touched by their warm gesture. It is a good sign that people are more close to the traffic police as they see us daily on the road.”
“The traffic police constables who are on the field are faced with health hazards owing to pollution. Considering this, the forum has, in addition, promised to provide masks to them,” she added.
Ms. Kotwal who distributed the gloves, said: “It is good to motivate them (the traffic police) as it could lead to better traffic control. This is my first time at a charity event concerning the Police Department. I am happy to be part of such events and it is good to be here today.”
Assistant Commissioner of Police Srinivas Murthy was present.
