Minister presents Kalamandalam fellowship, awards

Cheruthuruthy (Thrissur): Cultural Affairs Minister M.A. Baby presented the Kerala Kalamandalam fellowship for 2007 to veteran Kathakali actor Madavur Vasudevan Nair.

The fellowship carries a purse of Rs.20,000, citation and a plaque. The Minister also presented the Kalamandalam awards to K.S. Diwakaran Nair (Kalaratnam Award), Kottakkal Chandrasekharan (Kathakali acting), Mathur Govindankutty (Kathakali acting), Kalamandalam Thankamanikutty (Mohiniyattom), Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar (Koodiyattom), Kalamandalam Eswara Warrier (Maddalam), Kuttamathu Janardhanan (Thullal), Killimangalam Vasudevan Namboodiripad and M.P.S. Namboodiri (book on Kathakali), M.R. Rajan ( director of the best documentary on traditional arts), Iyyamcode Sreedharan (Mukunda Raja Smrithi Puraskaram), Vineetha Nedungadi (V.S. Sarma Puraskaram) and Kalamandalam Sindhu (Bhagavathar Kunjunni Thampuran Puraskaram).

Poet O.N.V. Kurup delivered the Vallathol remembrance lecture. Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Art and Culture Vice-Chancellor K. G. Poulose presided.
