Indian karate team

Chennai: A 13-member Indian team will participate in the senior karate World championships to be held at Budukan (Tokyo) from Nov. 10 to 16. R. Thiagarajan heads the contingent as the chef de mission.

The team consists of the following:

Men: Vijay Karthick, K. Savavanaa, R. Masood Ahmed, K. Karthick and T. Senthil (Tamil Nadu), Keerthan (AP) Lalshman Singa, Ashok Darda, Ashok Kumar (Uttarkand), Samir Das (Assam).

Women: Poonam Singh (Chhattisgarh), Velena Valantina (Orissa), Shaeen Ansari (Maharashtra).

Coach: Vipsy Kapadia.

Other members: P.R. Ramesh (Secretary, AIKF), K. Chiranjeevi (Observer), M. Kanakaraj (Technical Director-Chief coach) and Bharath Sharma (Treasurer AIKF, Manager).
