MADURAI: Members of Pattali Makkal Katchi staged a demonstration at the West Masi-North Masi streets junction here on Sunday, to protest against the killings of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka.

They wanted the authorities concerned to take efforts to stop the war immediately before initiating peace talks. They also demanded that the Central government should ensure that the relief material reached the affected Tamils without any delay.

Lie on road

The cadres protested by making some of their members lie on the road as dead bodies, surrounded by women wailing at them. R. Senthilvel Thevar, State deputy general secretary, led the protest.

Fifty members participated in the protest
