Woman threatened, cash and jewellery taken away

BANGALORE: A five-member gang of dacoits threatened the wife of a businessman and made away with jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5.4 lakh in at Chanchenahalli in Anekal taluk on Saturday.

According to the Sarjapur police, Sharavan, who deals with bricks and also undertakes contracts for flower decoration, left his residence early on Saturday leaving his wife Hema alone in the house.

When Hema heard the knock on the door in the night, she opened it in the belief that Sharavan had returned home.

However, the dacoits threatened Hema with a knife and took her to a room where an iron safe is kept.

They forced her to open the safe and removed Rs. 5 lakh cash, and then took her to another room to take away Rs. 40,000 in cash and the gold ornaments.

The Sarjapur police have registered a case. A search is on for the gang.

The police have obtained fingerprints from the scene of crime and have sought the services of the Finger Print Bureau to identify the gang members.

Arrest

The Girinagar police arrested six persons allegedly involved in several cases of burglary of temples and robbery, and have recovered eight mobile phones, a gold chain and two gold pendants.

The police gave the names of the four of the accused as Mutturaj (20), Manjunath (20), Prabhu (19) and Adarsh Chalavadi (24). Two of the accused are aged 17 and 16, respectively. The accused were allegedly involved in cases of burglary reported in Girinagar, Shankarapuram, Channamanakere Achchukattu and Rajarajeshwarinagar police station limits.

Robbery

Kamakshipalya police have arrested four persons in two cases of robbery and recovered Rs. 60,000 in cash and gold ornaments from them. The police identified the accused as Yoganand (19), Sudhakar (19), Sunil Singh (19) and Chetan (22). They were allegedly involved in a robbery reported near Yediyur Lake in October, and in another incident in the Peenya Police station limits.

Held

The Shivajinagar police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in the assault and molestation of a woman on Cockburn Road on October 20. The police gave the names of the accused as Indres, Shabbir, Aleem and Akbar, and have recovered machetes and knives from the accused.

In another case, the Cottonpet police have arrested three persons allegedly involved in the assault of a person and robbing him of his mobile phone and watch. The police gave the names of the accused as Anand (24), Ambarish (18) and Chandrashekar (24).

The Cottonpet police also arrested Ganesh (24) for his alleged involvement in the theft of a motorcycle and a mobile phone in Central Police and Siddapura police station limits. The police have recovered the motorcycle and the mobile phone.
