BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday dismissed a bail plea by three persons, accused by the State of belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and who have been charge sheeted by the Bangalore police of having planned the bomb attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) sometime ago. Three of the several accused in the IISc. attack — Mohammad Razhur Rehman, Noorullah Khan, Mohaboob Ibrahim Sab Chopdar — had moved the court for bail. All the accused were arrested under sections 120 (B), 121, 121 (A), 124 (A), 122, 153 (A) and 153 (B) of the Indian Penal Code, Section 5 and 6 of the Explosives Substances Act of 1908, sections 25, 26 and 28 of the Arms Act of 1959, and sections 10, 11, 13, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. The State contended that Mohammad Razhur Rehman had supplied explosives such as hand grenades, bombs, gelatine sticks and electrical detonators to Noorullah Khan and that Mohaboob Ibrahim Sab Chopdar had made an attempt to bomb the Alamatti Dam in Bagalkot district. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
