Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Mission perfect

Shifting Chandrayaan-1 from the earth’s orbit to the moon’s never seemed like a “mission impossible” to the Indian Space Research Organisation. As your editorial (November 10) pointed out, there is every reason for India to be on cloud nine, having tasted success in its maiden voyage to the moon. As for the exorbitant costs of the mission, we hope the means will meet the ends in the near future. Thanks for your brilliant articles and pictures. November 8 is a real “full moon day” for the ISRO team.

The manoeuvre around the moon is indeed a matter of pride. The accuracy with which the critical operation was executed demonstrates India’s increased competence in space exploration. The success further infuses a sense of confidence in our scientists for taking up future space missions.
